Why we moved to Lisbon
There’s multiple reasons why we chose to move to Lisbon, as we will discuss in our first episode. Our motives are very different, which makes it an interesting conversation. Although we were thinking of moving abroad for a long time, it took us a while to make it happen – in the episode we also tell why that is. We will share what we left behind in our home countries and what Lisbon means to us before we moved and now. Last but not least we have some advice for anyone who wants to make a big change in their lives – but is scared AF. Trust us, we all are…

Moving to Lisbon
Lisbon is one of the sunniest cities in Europe and also one of the most beautiful ones – if you ask us. Lisbon has a rich history which is still visible in the older parts of the city. No wonder it’s a very popular city for tourists, expats and digital nomads. Also, moving to Lisbon has never been so popular! But, it’s not all rainbow and glitters in Portugal – as many may think.
One thing you should really know before moving to Lisbon is that the housing market is absolute madness. You might think: prices are rising all over the world, so it’s not that special. But Portugal’s case is different. Housing prices increased with 6,5% over 2023 to 2024, while the global increase is 3,6% (source: idealista.pt). Meanwhile the salaries in Portugal are one of the lowest in Europe. Many young people leave Portugal after they graduate to get a better salary abroad and a better quality of life.
You can imagine, with everything going on, that the dynamic in Lisbon is changing fast. There’s many people leaving, but also many people coming, as Portugal is still really interesting for expats and immigrants – for different reasons. On our podcast we are also going to invite guests as we would like to show you more perspectives. We are here to keep it real!
