The LGBTQ+ community in Lisbon

If you’re wondering what the LGBTQ+ community in Lisbon is really like, this is your episode! One thing you must know is that Lisbon has a very big and welcoming LGBTQ+ community. Lisbon is generally considered safe for LGBTQ+ individuals, with a thriving scene that includes events like the Arraial Lisboa Pride festival in June and an annual Queer Lisboa film festival in September.

LGBTQ+ parties in Lisbon

Lisbon is known for it’s vibrant nightlife, including lots of LGBTQ+ friendly places. The trendy neighborhood Principe Real has the highest concentration of gay bars, but also Bairro Alto is a good choice if you’re looking for a lively and inclusive atmosphere. Also the neighborhood Arroios is an upcoming area with growing LGBTQ+ friendly businesses that are especially attractive for a younger crowd.

The most popular LGBTQ+ bars in Lisbon are Trumps (also one of the oldest and most famous clubs), Construction Club (electronic music and themed parties) and Finalmente Club (known for drag shows). One of the best choices in Bairro Alto is the fun and flirty queer bar Purex Clube.

LGBTQ+ hotels in Lisbon

Since Lisbon is now considered one of the globeโ€™s most queer friendly destinations, it’s no surprise that the city offers a variety of hotels which are LGBTQ+ centred. In the heart of Bairro Alto, you’ll find a gay guesthouse named The Late Birds. The hotel opened over 8 years ago and is now a well-known queer hub for LGBTQ+ tourists. They also host some of Lisbon’s most amazing pool parties!
